a letter to myself

"You don't need to hide. Be joyful. Cry with those who cry, laugh with those who laugh. Do not allow fear to eat you, he only has as much power as you let him. Do not be afraid of loss and grief - it is the fire that will burn you down into the ashes that will resurrect you into pure being. You've seen The Fountain? The entire movie this character is terrified, hopelessly trying to control death, to keep grief and loss from coming in any way he can. We have all kinds of ways to hide from it. Some of us think religion will control it, some of us think politics, entertainment, alcohol, vegetarianism, self-help books will control it. The key is when he lets go - allows what must happen to happen - relinquishes himself to life and death - then he transcends it. This is what Christ did - this is the metaphor. We are everyone else and everyone else is us. We cannot truly separate ourselves from anything that happens in the world. The blood, guts, viscera, tears, sweat, laughter, ecstasy - this is why we are here- this is life, humanity - utter fragility and beauty. Fear, judgment and isolation keep us from experiencing it. There is no easy set of rules that will lead us to enlightenment. No one else's voice but the true inner voice of our most quiet selves can direct us where we should go. Do not hurry so fast, you have no where to be, you are already there, perfect - the key is to see it."

~PS - my membership has run out and I am waiting for the universe to pour more into my lap before I can re-up on it - so be patient with us.
